It really depends and this is why we “advise” every member of this program to speak with your clients before accepting any contracts. The clients will let you know whether or not you are qualified. Moreover, any product manager with a minimum of 1+ years of working experience is qualified to start consulting startups. You would essentially be doing the same type of work you are already being paid to do as a full-time product manager.
You should charge the rate you and your client agree upon for services rendered. The rate that is quoted isn’t always the rate that you will receive. You could end up with a higher or lower rate than advertised. Likewise you will also notice that other product managers on Upwork would advertise one rate and charge another based upon the scope and effort required to complete the contract.
A good rule of thumb is 3 to 4 hours at the very minimum is expected, but our members in the has found and made more time as they saw their secondary income stream increase. Commit to anytime that you have, because your success is going to depend on consistent effort. Even sending out what one proposal a day is better than none at all.
You usually need to send out 30 to 40+ proposals to convert your first consulting contract and it takes about an hour to submit 15 proposals on average. This is a new skill and you will get faster at submitting new proposals for contracts. Ultimately, you might want to consider hiring a remote virtual assistant to force multiply our lead generation efforts. This really depends on your relationship with your client. As you will learn in our program, your job as a Startup Advisor has very little to do with your work experience. On the contrary, being a successful and effective Startup Advisor is all about how your clients feel when they are speaking to you. You are actually playing more of the role of therapist and life coach for Startup Founders than a Startup Advisor.

You can expect to increase your hourly rate for every 5 contracts you complete. The more completed contracts you have listed in your profile, then clients will FEEL more confident paying you higher fees.

The easiest platform for the client is Upwork and this is Upwork has the most jobs. You can always use the other platforms as well, but most of our members have found that there are more jobs on Upwork than they could ever apply to.
